MY STORY

Hi there! I'm Paige, the artist behind The Blank Paige. My passion for art began at a young age and led me to pursuing a career as an art teacher. I received my degree in Painting and Art Education from Illinois State University and taught visual art for 10 years. While I loved teaching and encouraging my students to create, I found myself uninspired to create any art for myself.

 

In search for a new creative outlet, I immediately thought of my Grandmother. She was a woman of many hobbies. A true testament to the phrase "lifelong learner" she started taking painting lessons in her 80s and found a new passion in watercolor. As a small child, I remember her teaching me calligraphy and decided to explore it again! 

 

Suddenly, blank pages were filled with drills, and letters, and phrases as I developed my craft. My favorite part about calligraphy and lettering is how it can be incorporated into so many of my other artistic passions such as painting and design. One summer while endlessly searching the internet for cute wedding and home decor (because planning a wedding AND rehabbing a new house is ALWAYS a good idea), I realized I could create my own designs that would fit our space and style perfectly. I knew I wasn't alone in this endless endeavor to find artwork that is both stylish and unique and The Blank Paige was born!  

 

Blank pages have evolved into custom signs, murals and wedding invitations. Henri Matisse once said "Create the things you wish existed." My goal with The Blank Paige is to do just that! I cannot wait to share my love of art, design and calligraphy with you and create the things YOU wish existed too!
